Return and Refund Policy

At Canpaco Inc. (“Canpaco”), a member of the Imperial Dade Canada family of companies, we are committed to providing high-quality packaging supplies and equipment to our customers. This Return and Refund Policy explains the conditions under which returns, refunds, credits, and product claims will be considered. By placing an order with Canpaco, you (the “Buyer”) agree to the terms set out below, which form part of Canpaco’s Terms and Conditions of Sale.

1. Return Eligibility

Requests to return goods purchased from Canpaco must meet all of the following conditions:

  • Time limit: The return must be requested, and the goods received back at Canpaco, within thirty (30) days of the original invoice date.
  • Written authorization: All returns must be approved by Canpaco in writing prior to shipment. Goods returned without a Return Authorization (RA) number will be refused at the dock and returned to the Buyer at the Buyer’s expense.
  • Condition: Returned goods must be in resalable condition, unopened, in their original packaging, and free from damage, markings, or labels applied by the Buyer.
  • Proof of purchase: The original Canpaco sales receipt or invoice number must accompany the return.

2. Restocking and Transportation Fees

Approved returns are subject to a restocking fee of fifteen percent (15%) of the invoiced value of the returned goods, with a minimum charge of $25.00 per return. The Buyer is also responsible for all transportation, freight, and handling costs associated with returning the goods to Canpaco, unless the return is required as a result of an error by Canpaco or a confirmed warranty claim (see Sections 5 and 6 below).

3. Non-Returnable Items

The following items cannot be returned or refunded under any circumstances:

  • Custom orders, custom-printed items, and made-to-order goods (including custom-printed corrugated, custom poly bags, custom tape, and custom labels).
  • Specialty or non-stock goods produced or sourced specifically for the Buyer’s order.
  • Cut-to-size or converted materials produced to the Buyer’s specifications.
  • Clearance, closeout, and “as-is” items, which are sold final sale.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitation products, gloves, and any items with hygiene or food-safety seals where the original packaging has been opened.
  • Packaging machinery and equipment, except where covered by an express written warranty from Canpaco or the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Goods that have been used, installed, modified, opened, or are no longer in resalable condition.

4. How to Request a Return

To request a return, please contact Canpaco Customer Service within 30 days of the invoice date and provide the following information:

  • Canpaco invoice or sales order number
  • Product code(s) and quantity to be returned
  • Reason for the return
  • Photographs, if the request relates to damaged, defective, or incorrectly shipped goods

If the request is approved, Canpaco will issue a Return Authorization (RA) number and provide return shipping instructions. The RA number must be clearly marked on the outside of all returned cartons and on all paperwork. RA numbers are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue.

5. Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Shipments

The Buyer is responsible for inspecting all shipments upon delivery. Any visible damage, shortage, or incorrect product must be noted on the carrier’s delivery receipt or bill of lading at the time of delivery and reported to Canpaco within forty-eight (48) hours.

Concealed damage, latent defects, or product non-conformities that are not visible at the time of delivery must be reported to Canpaco in writing within thirty (30) days of delivery. Claims received after this period will not be eligible for credit, replacement, or refund.

Where the issue is the result of an error by Canpaco — such as incorrect product shipped, shortage, or shipping damage — Canpaco will, at its option, arrange for replacement of the affected goods, issue a credit to the Buyer’s account, or arrange for return of the goods at Canpaco’s expense. In such cases, no restocking fee will apply and Canpaco will cover the cost of return transportation.

6. Manufacturer Warranties

All goods supplied by Canpaco are sold with only such warranties as are extended by the original manufacturer of the goods. Canpaco will provide reasonable assistance to the Buyer in obtaining the benefits of any applicable manufacturer warranty. No warranty claim will be honoured if:

  • the goods were not stored, handled, or used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions;
  • the defect resulted from damage occurring after delivery;
  • the defect was not reported to Canpaco in writing within thirty (30) days after delivery; or
  • the defect was observable at the time of delivery and not reported upon delivery.

The foregoing warranty is exclusive of, and in lieu of, all other warranties, whether written, oral, or implied, including any warranty of performance, non-infringement, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

7. Packaging Machinery and Equipment

Packaging machinery, equipment, and spare parts are generally non-returnable once delivered. Equipment is covered only by the warranty (if any) provided by the original equipment manufacturer. Returns or warranty claims relating to equipment will be handled in accordance with the applicable manufacturer’s terms and any sales order, quotation, or service agreement signed between Canpaco and the Buyer.

8. Refunds and Credits

Once returned goods have been received and inspected by Canpaco and confirmed to be in resalable condition, a credit or refund will be issued as follows:

  • Account customers: A credit memo will be applied to the Buyer’s account, less any applicable restocking and transportation fees.
  • Credit card or prepaid orders: A refund will be issued to the original payment method, less any applicable restocking and transportation fees. Refunds typically appear within ten (10) business days of approval, though processing times may vary by financial institution.
  • Original shipping and handling charges paid on the initial order are non-refundable, except where the return is the result of an error by Canpaco.

9. Order Cancellations

Once an order has been confirmed by Canpaco, it may not be cancelled by the Buyer except with Canpaco’s express written consent. Custom orders, special orders, and orders that have already entered production or shipping cannot be cancelled. Cancellation requests for stock items received prior to shipment will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be subject to administrative or production charges.

10. Limitation of Liability

Canpaco’s total liability on any claim of any kind, including negligence, with respect to any goods or services supplied, shall in no case exceed the purchase price of the specific goods or services giving rise to the claim. In no event shall Canpaco be liable for any lost profits, or for any special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind arising out of the sale, delivery, non-delivery, use, or loss of use of the goods. This Return and Refund Policy does not limit any non-waivable rights the Buyer may have under applicable consumer protection legislation.

11. Changes to this Policy

Canpaco reserves the right to amend this Return and Refund Policy at any time without prior notice. The version in effect at the time the order is placed will govern that order. The most current version of this Policy will be posted on Canpaco’s website at www.canpaco.com.

12. Governing Law

This Policy shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in that province, without giving effect to principles of conflicts of law.
